On April 1st 2016 the Kilometre Charging System for heavy goods vehicles of more than 3,5 tonnes in the Flemish, Walloon and Brussels regions comes into effect. All these heavy goods vehicles must have a functioning On Board Unit.
Heavy goods vehicle owners can get compliant and accommodate oneself to the use of the OBU. From October 1st the operator Satellic will open the registrations for ordering OBUs.
Road User Portal
The simplest way to obtain an OBU is to go to the Satellic user portal on www.satellic.be. On the Road User Portal, each company has access to a private, secure, personalised area where it is possible to register companies and vehicles, order one or more OBUs, link and unlink OBUs and vehicles and manage all company and vehicle data in an easy, user-friendly manner. OBUs ordered online will be delivered by post after the order has been submitted and payment of a deposit of EUR 135 per device has been made.
Service point
OBUs can also be obtained by visiting one of the Service Points set up throughout Belgium and in border areas (https://www.satellic.be/uk-UK/servicepoints). OBUs can be obtained through a fast-track procedure at a service point by registering and scanning the vehicle documents, entering the relevant data via the touch screen of the payment terminal and paying the deposit directly. Users who wish to receive the full benefit of the services offered by Satellic will still need to log in to the user portal for complete registration. At a Service Point, a single OBU can be obtained at a time and offers the advantage of issuing the device right away.
Call Center
In order to make the transition even easier, users can contact the Satellic callcenter from October 1st 2015 with questions regarding the registration on the user portal and the installation of their OBU. The call centre can be reached on 00800-72 83 55 42 n Belgium and neighbouring countries or on op +32 78 15 15 15. from the rest of Europe.
