    From 1 January 2021, four new ‘green’ number plates will be introduced in Belgium. Of these, only the test drive plate will be exempt from the kilometer charge in the Belgian toll domains.

    In order to drive with a test drive plate in Belgium without an On Board Unit, all the conditions must be met and can the vehicle best be registered using the form on the left. Please fill in all the boxes.

    In order to meet the conditions, you must not transport cargo with your vehicle and you are one of the following:

    • a manufacturer or builder of motor vehicles;
    • a research center of a higher education institution;
    • an organizer of test drives with autonomous vehicles;
    • a company that performs tests on components or systems that contribute to the technical improvement of vehicles which have already been approved.
